John Oliver of Last Week Tonight on HBO discusses the massive impact of the cybersecurity breach at Equifax and their massively misguided attempts to mitigate the damage.
This issue is deeply troubling to me because I was affected in a negative way. Currently, Equifax believes my personal information has been “impacted.”
Would this have happened if Congress created a law requiring @Equifax to pay $1000 to every person effected by their negligence? pic.twitter.com/A1WE8EkLNU

If you missed John Oliver’s show last night, I highly encourage you to see how negligent and misguided Equifax really is. Their job, in part, is the protection of everyone’s sensitive private information. It’s not that hard really. I could have done a better job with security than their entire IT department but at only a fraction of the cost.
Who knows how much time and resources I will need to protect my identity for the rest of my life. Equifax needs to make this right and financially compensate me for their gross negligence. It’s not like Equifax is hurting for money, they minted an impressive reported profit of $132.8 million in 2016 alone.
Note: This language is colorful and might not be suited for young ones.
What can you do about it?
